Watching the video, all so young and usually the case for those who pay the ultimate price. It makes this tragedy all the more painful to lose our youngest and brightest. So few Americans today are willing to serve, sad.

D-Day. 80 years ago.133,000 troops from the U.S., the British Commonwealth, & allies, landed on the shores of Normandy as Operation OVERLORD got underway.Over 7,000 ships, manned by almost 200,000 naval personnel from 8 different countries.Landing in places code named: UTAH, OMAHA, GOLD, JUNO, & SWORD, allied forces scaled cliffs and swarmed sandy beaches under the hail of withering gunfire.Further inland, over 13,000 paratroopers carried on more than 800 aircraft, landed by parachute and glider.Their goal? To gain a foothold in France from which additional allied forces could maneuver to retake Europe. It remains the largest amphibious invasion in military history. Allied causalities were over 10,000, with over 6,000 from the U.S.These men and women waded & flew into hell that day.Like more recent wars, they fought for each other but… perhaps unlike any major conflict since, they fought for liberty and freedom in a world where both were at risk.Today, is a great day to be an American, proud and free.Part of the most compassionate, most generous, and most tolerant superpower the world has ever known. God bless the USA and its allies!

What weapons do the Israeli dolphins have?Israel does not have a naval force that uses dolphins as weapons. Dolphins are intelligent and highly social marine mammals, and they are not trained to carry or use weapons. In fact, dolphins are often used in marine research, conservation, and education, as well as for entertainment purposes like dolphin shows and therapy.Israel's military does have a Marine Corps, which is responsible for naval operations, but it does not use dolphins as weapons. Instead, they rely on conventional naval vessels, such as submarines, destroyers, and patrol boats, as well as other equipment and technologies to carry out their missions. So, to answer your question, there are no "Israeli dolphins" with weapons!

D-Day - 6 June 1944 - was the largest amphibious invasion in the history of warfare. The statistics of D-Day, codenamed Operation Overlord, are staggering. The Allies used over 5,000 ships and landing craft to land more than 150,000 troops on five beaches in Normandy. The landings marked the start of a long and costly campaign in north-west Europe, which ultimately convinced the German high command that defeat was inevitable. #DDay80Here are 10 things you need to know about D-Day:https://lnkd.in/dH4rKfbW

Did you know, Byzantines used a formidable weapon, which provided a big #technological advantage in naval battles?💥This naval #weapon was an in’cendiary weapon and could continue burning even under water. It was thrown from ship to ship, and used to start a #fire.💥This weapon brought many #military victories to the Byzantines.💥Its ingredients included naphtha, quick-lime, sulphur, and niter.💥What set the #Byzantine usage of in’cendiary mixtures apart, was their use of pressurized siphons to project the liquid onto the enemy.💥The name of this weapon is Greek Fire.#didyouknow #greekfire #reels

For the first time ever, see the Southwick House D Day Map up close as our interactive guide takes you on a step by step journey, from the early preparation right through to the final assault and the days after. Today marks the 80th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the Allied liberation of occupied Europe during the Second World War, which began on 6 June, 1944, commonly referred to as D-Day. Operation Neptune was the naval assault phase and involved safely landing 156,000 troops on 50 miles of defended coastline. The objective was clear - to transport and land Allied forces on the beaches of Normandy, France, to establish a foothold in Nazi-occupied Europe. Coordination of naval gunfire support, mine-sweeping operations, amphibious landings, and logistical support for the invasion would be crucial. The complex operation required years of meticulous planning and coordination among the Allied forces. https://bit.ly/3RaBBIj#DDAY #DDAY80 #DDayMap
